Sandwich Food Pantry - Stuff a Police Cruiser
For the past several years, SCPAA volunteers have participated in the annual "Stuff a Cruiser" event. Officer Dan Perkins is the driving force behind this project, which collects food and cash donations for the Sandwich Food Pantry. Volunteers are stationed outside the two Stop and Shop stores in Sandwich to help stuff a Sandwich Police cruiser with bags of nonperishable food items and paper products donated by shoppers, and the bags are then delivered to the Food Pantry. Volunteers are on hand at the Pantry itself to help staff sort and shelve the donations.
Additionally, as a result of the "Stuff a Cruiser" event, there are now TEN SCPA Alumni who regularly assist at the Sandwich Food Pantry. THANK YOU Roni Pierce, Bernie Ferioli, Gary Gronlund, Colleen Hayes, Sue and Jim Leavey, Alice and Bob Paul, and Nancy and Carl Rose!
Toys for Tots
The Toys for Tots campaign put on by the Sandwich Police and Fire Departments is one of the SCPAA's favorite volunteering opportunities. Usually taking place over 2 days and in 2 different locations, the people of Sandwich show their generosity and compassion by filling multiple box with toys for the children of the community. in 2017 the Sandwich Police Department donated 1474 toys to Toys for Tots, all of which go to a child on Cape Cod.
The Sandwich Citizens Police Academy Alumni put in 128 person hours helping out!
