Happy New Year Sandwich Citizens Police Academy Alumni! What a year! With all the craziness from Covid 19, the Sandwich Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association was virtually (are we sick of that word yet?) shut down. Due to the restrictions of social distancing, there were very few public events in Sandwich, and therefore not the usual need for our assistance. However, we were able to help at a couple of food drives, some Halloween events and on election day. This year we will again be collecting for the Sandwich Food Pantry and Toys for Tots. In addition, the new year will offer some new opportunities for our help, beginning with drive-through vaccine clinics in February so we will be busy again in 2021! There are plenty of reasons to take this opportunity to renew your Sandwich Citizens Police Academy Alumni membership. The annual dues continue to be $20 per year, per person, and are payable by February 29, 2021. Being an active dues-paying member allows you to vote in elections, hold office on the Executive Board, participate in special training, and attend the meetings. Each year the association has been able to award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior. In 2020, the scholarship was awarded to Taylor Cecily Howell. Please open and print the form "2021 Membership Dues" below and return with your dues payment to: SCPAA, Inc.; PO Box 753; Sandwich MA 02563. The current Board of Directors are: Mike Miller – President; Jerry Fortin - Vice President; Jeanne Nichols – Secretary; and Dennis Driscoll - Treasurer. At this time, we are looking for a Social Director, Membership Director, and Merchandise Coordinator. If you are interested in any of these positions, please email the SCPAAA at scpaainc@yahoo.com. Unfortunately, the pandemic also necessitated the cancellation of the Sandwich Citizens Police Academy in 2020. Let’s hope by Fall of 2021 conditions will be conducive for the Sandwich Police to conduct the next class. Volunteers are always needed, so please respond to the emails, and check the SCPAA website and Facebook page often to see how you can help this organization that gives so much to the community. We look forward to another successful year of assisting the Sandwich Police Department in its service to the Sandwich community.
